Garden of 1000
Buddhas
During what is known as our present "aeon" of
history on the planet., Buddha Sakyamuni foretold of 1000
Buddhas, known as the 1000 Buddhas of this
Fortunate Aeon, or progeny of the Great Dharmakaya Mother, Yum Chenmo.
In Montana, where Tulku Sang-ngag has his seat in the United States, Ewam, our
non-profit organization, is supporting Rinpoche's grand vision to continue the
construction of 1000 Buddha statues, all to be situated in a specially-designed
garden for this purpose, as a symbolic representation of each of these individually-prophesied
1000 Buddhas. This will be known as Ewam Magadha Garden of 1000 Buddhas. [Magadha,
or Dorje Den in India is the site of Buddha Sakyamuni's enlightment.]
A Spiritual Opportunity
In the Face of Present World Crisis
Rinpoche's Message about our Present Global Crisis and the Proposed Garden of
1000 Buddhas
Generally speaking, it appears that the positive merit we have accumulated collectively,
which contributes to harmony on the whole, is now being eclispsed by the foces
of negativity. Moreover, non-virtuos thoughts and actions are increasing worlwide,
to the point where negativity is definitely waxing, and we can clearly observe
actual signs of its manifestation. This negativity, coupled with anger, incites
people to merciless, aggressive behavior, so that thousands of peaceful citizens
are affected and even robbed of their very lives. In these disturbing times of
military conflict and the looming threats of warfare which function to obscure
the sun of happiness and joy and plunge us into darness, it is important to pacify
negative forces and bring them to a halt. To that end, in order to increase the
store of merit for oneself and others, to bring benefit to one's kind parents,
to those who have died needlessly, and to all those with whom we have connections,
it would be excellent to have means for beings to come into contact with their
Buddha nature through seeing, hearing and remembering basic goodness, as a direct
result of encountering the Buddha's image. Through opportunity for such an encounter,
a see would be planted for the inspiration to bring virtue in whoever sees the
images. The Magadha Garden is a means whereby we may bring an immediate blessing
and benefit to all.Buddha Statue Created for the Magadha Garden

Benefits We Accrue by Creating Imagages
of the Buddha and Erecting Stupa
Generally speaking, from the vantage point of pure beings, Buddhas manifest
in their Dharmakaya aspect in order to tame them. Other individuals benefit
from the enlightened displays of the Sambogakaya form of the the Buddha, manifested
throught visionary experience. For other beings, who are not so spiritually
advanced, the Buddha manifests in the Nirmanakaya form, reincarnating in various
ways, as well as appearing in works of art, literature, and such. All the manifold
means of expressing the meaning of enlightenment are considered the manifestation
of the Nirmanakaya, such as the emanation of the Nirmanakaya Sakyamuni Buddha.
For those with faith and fervent regard, whenever they come into contact with
those receptacles of relics, such as stupas and statues which have been consecrated,
there is a blessing [transmitted]. Additionally, these individuals fulfill
the training to accumulate merit. If one inquires how this could be, it is
said that those who have seen a blessed object or simply heard the sound of
a bell, or were downwind from such an object, have had the seeds of liberation
planted within their mindstreams, and ultimatley, that seed will open [into
the causes for] complete enlightenment. Not only do people of an area in which
there are sacred objects receive benefit, but those invisible beings such as
gods, demons and even birds, wild animals, and being from the smallest insect
upwards receive benefit from the planting of the seeds of liberation in their
mindstreams.

Plans for Erecting the Statues
To begin, we will work the lanscape to create the pattern of an eight-spoked
Dharmachakra, or Dharma Wheel. In the hub of the wheel we have constructed
a lion throne, upon which will rest the image of the Great Mother, Prajnaparamita,
graced with an aura behind her. Above her head will be a protective roof
in the shape of an umbrella. The pinnacle of the roof will be ornamented
with a sertok, which is the Tibetan word describing the Golden ornament found
on rooftops of monasteries, temples and stupas. One thousand small stupas
of enlightenment will be placed on the rim of the Dharma Wheel.
Lion Throne Under Constuction
Positioned closer to the center on the four main spokes of the Dharma Wheel,
which mark the four cardinal directions, will be the Buddhas of the Three Times:
Marmay Dze, Shakyamuni and Maitreya. The fourth of these main Buddhas will
be Mopa Nang Dze, the last Buddha foretold to apear in this aeon. Beyond the
circumference of the wheel we will plant 1000 trees, symbolizing the Bodi Tree,
or the tree under which Sakyamuni was enlightened in Bodhgaya, India.
With Yum Chenmo, the Great Mother, to be positioned in the center of the Wheel,
together with the 1000 Buddhas on the spokes and inner circumference, and
the 1000 Stupas positioned on the outer circumference, the merit of this garden
will
be immeasurable, such that it will infuse the wind with blessings that wil
be carried to lands far and wide
This
is Our Aspiration
Serving to Inspire Others
In general, we aspire to engage in virtuous activity. With this, we invite
others to avail themselves of this great and unusual opportunity to accumulate
merit, which will have the general result of benefitting oneself as well
as others. In particular, such merit one accumulates can be dedicated for
the benefit of one's deceased relatives or friends, those who have died while
giving birth, and the like. Engaging in such activites is an effective means
whereby one can purify one's own karma as well as that of others.
To any of you who may wish to contribute financially or to volunteer to work
to build this 1000 Buddha garden, no matter how large or small a contribution
you are able to make, to you who are well-motivated, I offer my welcome and
my heartfelt gratitude. If anyone desires to sponsor a Buddha statue, he or
she may choose the Buddha with whom they feel most connected. We will be creating
plaques bearing the names of the individual sponsors of each Buddha, and to
whom they wish each work be dedicated [such as deceased parents or friends]
which we will secure at the base of each statute. Again, I invite everyone
to participate in this excellent means to benefit limitless beings. Both those
who erect these objects of veneration as well as whoever encounters them will
experience a blessing. Moreover, for however long these sacred objectes endure,
so too will the merit flow like a stream for all those responsible for their
creation.
