Sang-ngag Phurbaling is a retreat
center for monks, with many difficulties and constant efforts
of Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche
and Dr. Lama Tashi a younger brother of the Rinpoche Phurbaling
retreat center was founded in 1988, land puja was done by
His holiness Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche.
The first three year retreat was began in 1996 with five retreatnants
and one cook, Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche has been guiding and
giving the teachings for the retreatnants, after completing
the retreat in 2000, khenpo Ngawang Gelek, a youngest brother
of Rinpoche also a qualified khenpo from Namdroling monastery
south India has been giving teachings and guiding the monks
at the phurbaling.
The second three year retreat began in Febuary of 2002, under
the direct spiritual guidance of Rinpoche with initial assistance
of Ramjam Rinpoche, the second three year retreat started with
preliminary practice following guru yoga and reciting mantra
of 1,130,000 times, this second year retreat completed with
eight monks including two retreat attendants and one abbot,
in between the retreat His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche and
also Taklung Tsedrul Rinpoche has visited and given teachings
to the retreatnants, this three year retreat was completed
in march 2005.
Currently phurpaling retreat houses were put under repair works,
third three year retreat will began after all the construction
and repair works were done.
